Mission Statement

Northgate Health Centre’s mission is to provide high-quality care through our multidisciplinary team, in an environment that is professional, kind and respectful. Our aim is to continually promote health and wellbeing through safe and personalised care, valuing quality and continuity.

Vision and Values

At Northgate Health Centre we care passionately about the welfare of our patients. We provide personalised, respectful care and aim to support our patients’ general wellbeing.

When 27 and 28 Beaumont Street surgeries merged in 2024 one of our core principles was (and remains) continuity of care. We strive to ensure patients are able to see their named clinician of choice and retain the ‘small practice feel’ that we and our patients value.

In 2022 (after extensive patient consultation) we moved from our previously beautiful but dated and difficult to access 5-storey Georgian town houses (without lifts) to our current purpose-built location. It was becoming challenging to provide even routine GP services where we were and impossible to expand our team to develop what we could provide any further. We are now at Northgate Health Centre and have taken on a clinical pharmacist, paramedics, a mental health support worker, mind worker and a practice link worker. We are continuing to develop our team in response to feedback from our patients and identifying areas where local healthcare provision is lacking.

We have always had close links to Oxford University, but we now support five Oxford colleges and provide welfare input for 3000+ students -many of whom are living away from home for the first time. We have developed additional screening and engagement events for our student population and continue to work closely with the welfare teams and colleges to maintain a very high standard of care but whilst also respecting the critical confidentiality of our student patients.

We are a teaching and training practice, hosting undergraduate and graduate medical students from Oxford University Medical School and support qualified doctors who are training to become GPs. We are very proud to be part of training the next generation of doctors and this also keeps us at the forefront of current best practice.

As a site we host several allied healthcare services so that our patients and the wider population of Oxfordshire can access these clinics in the heart of the city/community. Currently we support the diabetes eye screening service, Cora health musculoskeletal clinics, audiology and cardiology services in the community.

Medicine, general practice and the wider pressures on the Oxford City community are constantly changing. We aim to continue to respond to these challenges, advocate for our patients, adapt where appropriate and develop new services. Along the way we want to support our team, treat all with respect and dignity and strive to remain an approachable, caring practice.
