Oxford Student Medical Event
Welcome to Oxford!
We are pleased to share that we will be hosting medical induction events across Friday 10th October & Saturday 11th October.
We invite students who ‘fall’ under the following categories to our medical events, where you will meet our medical team for a brief health check and a discussion of current medical needs, if relevant.
- If you are on repeat medications (including contraceptives)
- Students who have not yet had an MMR or Men ACWY or eligible for a flu vaccination. Please see NHS Choices for details of the UK Immunisation schedule.
- A medical condition
Attendance is compulsory for those who fall under the medical categories. Even if you can’t attend your surname timeslot, please still attend at another point in the session.
If you are on repeat medication, we strongly encourage you to bring sufficient to tide you over the first month at least. Prior to setting up any regular prescription with us, you will need to make a standard doctor’s appointment at the practice or college surgery. If you are coming from outside the UK, please be aware that there are licensing and marketing differences around the world so not all medication/brands may be available, and medical practice can vary across the globe. We would aim to switch your prescription to the nearest alternative if this is the case.
We also prescribe according to our local commissioning group’s recommendations which are based on evidence of efficacy, but also cost. Some medication is only prescribed with secondary care doctors’ involvement – for example, ADHD drugs – and requires onward referral and this may take time to sort out. Please download the NHS app- this will allow you to view your medical record and order repeat medication.
It is important to note that you need to register (online) via Campus Doctor prior to your attendance at the practice.
Please see event schedule (according to your college) below:
